Blockus Goes Multichain

October 9, 2024

Day 3 of Blockus Launch Week brings exciting news - Blockus is expanding its multichain capabilities!

Now, game studios and developers can launch their games across multiple chains, including 9 EVM-compatible ones like Base, Linea, SKALE, and Sei, as well as Cosmos and non-EVM chains like Sui.

Dive in to learn how taking your game multichain can accelerate user growth and explore our latest EVM-compatible additions: Base and Linea.

Why Expand Multichain?

This week, we’ve introduced account abstraction-enabled features that address the current challenges plaguing web3 gaming, including web2 login, invisible wallet solutions, signless transitions, and sponsored ones. To drive even greater user adoption, we firmly believe that expanding games multichain is the way forward.

Multichain games offer a smooth user experience by simplifying asset transfers across various networks. Unlike cross-chain games, where newcomers might grapple with asset bridging complexities, multichain games offer direct asset compatibility, ensuring a seamless experience when transferring in-game assets and engaging on different platforms.

Multichain gaming significantly improves scalability by allowing many-to-many interactions, which are ideal for accessing diverse player databases and reducing transaction fees.

Furthermore, multichain games enjoy enhanced security through multi-network protection, as targeting multiple chains is exponentially more challenging than a single blockchain.

Blockus simplifies the process of expanding multichain, offering game developers the freedom to select their preferred chains for launch, with pre-audited, near-instant deployment, available on both EVM-compatible and non-EVM chains.

EVM vs Non-EVM Chains

EVM, or the Ethereum Virtual Machine, serves as the foundational software environment for executing smart contracts on the Ethereum blockchain. EVM compatibility allows blockchains to run the EVM and execute Ethereum smart contracts while also enabling developers to deploy consistent smart contracts across multiple EVM blockchains with minimal code adjustments.

EVM-compatible blockchains ensure portability and interoperability, facilitating the smooth migration of smart contracts and dApps from one EMV-compatible chain to another. The utilization of Solidity, Ethereum's widely-adopted programming language, streamlines development and eases the learning curve across EVM-compatible networks through its unified codebase.

With Blockus, game studios can effortlessly access new EVM-compatible user bases like Polygon’s, currently the largest in the ecosystem. At the same time, developers can leverage options such as the Avalanche and Optimism stacks to create dedicated chains for superior performance and control.

By partnering with Sei, SKALE, and Sui, Blockus provides a seamless multichain game migration process along with a fully customized user experience.

Sui

Sui, also known as the first permissionless layer-1 (L1) proof-of-stake (PoS) blockchain, features a unique smart contract programming model based on the Move language which prioritizes throughput and low latency. This is made possible through parallel transactions and a mechanism that employs simpler and low-latency primitives to bypass typical consensus complexities.

What makes Sui uniquely suited for web3 game design and seamless in-game asset ownership is its transaction validation approach. Instead of aggregating transactions into conventional blocks, it validates them individually, meaning near-instant transaction processing speeds, low fees, and high scalability. The Move language also facilitates the smooth management of game objects and customization of ownership schemes, thanks to its resource-oriented design.

Blockus is excited to partner with Sui, as one of the few gaming infrastructure platforms leveraging the network's capabilities. Games can now be instantly deployed on a network that has skyrocketed in adoption, recently reaching 1 million active wallet addresses within two months of its mainnet launch.

SKALE

SKALE is a modular, Ethereum-native blockchain network known for offering advanced features including on-chain file storage, interchain messaging, ML/AI smart contracts, and zero gas fees for end users. It uses Ethereum’s Solidity contract language and supports key token standards like ERC-4337, which allows developers to rapidly deploy EVM blockchains without sacrificing speed, security, or decentralization.

Over the past year, SKALE’s adoption has grown significantly, boasting more than 100,000 monthly active users and processing over 100 million transactions. This has translated into substantial savings of $1.5 billion USD in gas fees for users.

Blockus’ partnership with SKALE allows game studios to deliver nearly lag-free, web2-like gameplay and enables game developers to seamlessly deploy their games without the need to learn a new programming language.

Sei

Sei Network stands out as the fastest chain to finality, boasting a twin-turbo consensus mechanism that ensures both rapid transaction processing and top-notch security. Its primary value proposition centers around exchange applications, including NFT marketplaces and gaming economies.

Through our strategic partnership with Sei, game developers can harness the network's transaction speeds to deliver an uninterrupted and seamless experience for gamers, all while avoiding the typical delays associated with traditional blockchain networks.

Conclusion

Multichain gaming promises a future marked by simplicity, efficiency, and enhanced security, offering players a more accessible and secure on-chain gaming experience.
